Thousands of North Koreans flee their homeland every month, often to find food. Taking care of these refugees, though important, only treats the symptoms of the problem.
This project, in connection with several other related projects in the same region, is designed to directly treat the source by employing North Koreans to teach them job skills and by feeding those who are unable to provide for themselves.
Unlike the many humanitarian aid organizations who pour massive amounts of aid into North Korea without it reaching the general population, the Bethlehem Project is in complete control of all production and distribution.
Another unique aspect of the Bethlehem Project is that it is purely focused on North Korea and is committed solely to improving the lives of the North Korean people with no other interests abroad. It is because of this kind of focus that there are continual opportunities to expand and branch out into other areas such as farming.
